Hi, y’all.  I’ve been goofing off all day today; it’s 4:30 and I’m just sitting down to ‘talk’ with you.  I plan to keep it brief because I’m exciting to be going to the Globe in Berlin to hear my pals in Teenage Rust play for what may be the last of their fall tour.  It’s always such a good time going to hear them for the favorite tunes they play for us and the many friends who join us for the fun - really, it’s like a BJ’s reunion every time.

So ... last weekend was a blast being at the last big hurrah for Coconuts Beach Bar & Grill.  Don’t we wish we could have had this great weather?  It was freezing!  But I broke out my winter cape and hat and was pretty toasty.  Let me tell you what was way hot - Lime Green Band.  That’s right ... after a summer off while guitarist Terry recuperated from a dangerous aneurysm, the band was back in full force and sound great.  I have to say again that Angeline is one of the best vocalists in the area.  People are always asking who’s my favorite band; who’s my favorite singer.  I usually say I have a Top Ten but truthfully, we have so much fabulous talent around here that there are many more than ten, for sure.  Angeline has that God-given voice that is full of nuance, power and range.  Her song selections covered a long list songs by famous female singers.  Here are a few titles (I wrote them down so I wouldn’t forget): “Love on the Brain,” “Valerie,” “Never Be Royals,” “Dreams” by Fleetwood Mac and “Jesus Save Me” by Jethro Tull.  Yep, she does rockin’ songs from the male persuasion, too.  After break she came back with Gaga’s “Bad Romance,” Rhianna’s “Umbrella,” Stephanie’s “I’m Just A Girl,” Abdul’s “Straight Up” and so many more.  I’m so glad they’re back in the groove and wish them all the best.  Let’s be on the lookout for their next gigs.

That was Saturday and I was back on Sunday for the official Closing Party and music by Monkee Paw.  There’s a reason why this group usually opens and closes the season at Coconuts.  They play such a wide variety of music and it’s so danceable - ‘cause we know Coconuts partiers love to dance, right?  They know how to get the season off to a great start and they certainly know how to close it. I had just been remarking to a friend how guitarist Adam’s voice has a similar vibrato as the voice of Elvis, when he broke into an Elvis song - right on cue.  We’re going to miss all the good times at this beautiful venue; but look forward to returing in May.

Check out Tranzfusion at Bourbon St. tonight.  And it should be a glorious day outside at the Windmill Creek Winery on Sunday when the Billie Carlins Group are slated to perform there.  This may be the first year I am not planning on attending Halloween parties; but if you want to send me your photos, please do and I’ll post them on coconuttimes.com Fun Fotos.

Thanks for all your support over the years.  Coconut Times has been serving the resort community since 1985 and I’ve been posting your pictures and writing Coco Nights since 1992 or so.  I remember someone saying years ago that Coconut Times is the original Facebook.  Remember Barhopping?  So much fun.  Yes, I’m slowing down a bit, but I have no plans to stop doing what I love.   When I get a new hip, you’ll see me dancing again.  Okay, with that, I’m going to cut out so I can get to the Globe for Teenage Rust!  Take time to be kind to people and always party safe.
